Home visits on weekdays should be requested by telephoning your practice between 8.30am and 10.00am whenever possible. We will phone you back following your request to establish if a house call by the GP is required or if another course of action may be more appropriate.
Home visits are usually made between 10.45am and 12.45pm.
If you think that your problem requires immediate attention, please make this clear at the time of your original request.
When you request a home visit the receptionist will ask you for:
- patients full name and date of birth
- patients home address and the address to be visited if different
- contact telephone number
- brief details of illness or reason for home visit
This information is required to help the doctor plan and prioritise the home visits and will be treated in confidence.
Note that we do not have a policy of automatic home visits to patients discharged from hospital unless the hospital or patient requests a review of the clinical condition.
Home visits use up our most valuable resource - time - and should only be requested when the patient is unfit to attend the surgery where we have better examination and treatment facilities.
